Big beat electronica DJ Junkie XL joins KCRW’s program director Jason Bentley at this tiny venue, making it one of the biggest tickets this weekend.

Within a minute of the first song, I was captivated by the smell of honesty they exuded. Talent and passion have nothing to do with each other, but the two combined can become a sort of magic stew, and The Gromble are definitely simmering in that direction.

They may have dodged the ominous bullet of becoming the next ‘one hit wonder,’ because their range of sound was impressive. The set provided a nice variance between rock/pop tracks that got the crowd dancing and slower jams that still held everyone’s attention. Finally, the lyrical content in songs such as “Creepy Crawly,” which solidifies the marriage between talent and passion.

On Saturday, October 15th Detroit Bar celebrated 10 years of groundbreaking music, close friends and great times! This was an invitation only party which was extended to our friends and family, artists that have played the venue and locals who have supported Detroit Bar over its 10 year history. DJs Cocoe, Scotty Coats and Danny Love all had great sets which led up to Peanut Butter Wolf and Charles Feelgood who headlined the night. Memphis Catering and Events was on hand cooking killer gourmet hot dogs topped with grilled onions, bacon and cheese! All in all it was a perfect party and it was great to see some old faces and bring back special memories from the last 10 Years.

Around midnight, the four aliens from Australia made their decent onto the planet of Costa Mesa.
